  Genesis:

                                         Born to

      Smt. Alamuru Kalyani and late Sri A. V. Ramana Murthy

       on 19th January, 1964 at Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. 

 

  - From childhood, she was inclined towards music.

  - Her father observed her talent and constantly supported her

    throughout his lifetime.

  - Her parents encouraged her from early age and took her to

    listen to concerts of Stalwarts. 

 

 Academics:

  *  B. Sc from the famous Maha Raja college, Vizianagaram in 1983.

  *  "Topper" of Diploama in Music - from Andhra University - 1984.

  *  "Topper" of  M. A. Music - from Andhra University - 1993.

 

   Guru Parampara:

 

     Sudharani learnt early lessons from Sri K. Rangacharyulu garu

      and Smt. Seshumani.

 

    Later, her performing abilities and pervading music values have been

   crystallised by "Vaayuleena Vidya Praveena" and "Sangeetha Kala Sagara"

     Sri  IVATURI  VIJAYESWARA RAO, himself, a worthy disciple of

    the great music savant

CONTRIBUTIONS

 

"Shat Kaala Pallavi"

     *   Sudharani is the first person to popularize RTPs (pallavis) of all varieties since 1980s and brought gravity to the format of the concert in these areas.

     *   She rendered the archaic  ‘Shat Kaala Pallavi’  -  a  Pallavi in 6 speeds, at the age of 23. She performed it for the first time in Maharajah’s Government Music College, Vizianagaram in 1987.

     *  She performed Shat kaala pallavi in Sabhas like

Sri Krishna Gana Sabha (Chennai), Karnataka Gana Kala Parishat (Bangalore),

Visakha Music Academy (Visakhapatnam)

andwon the accolade & appreciation of Vidwans.

     *   Shat Kaala Pallavi is archieved by ALL INDIA RADIO, Vijayawada.

   

 

 

Other Pallavis

       She is famous for Unique Pallavis which are known for their Laya soukhyam and Aesthetic appeal.

Some of them are:

                1.    trirAga pallavi  :   kEdAra  gowLa    -    kEdAraM    -   gowLa.

                2.    bhairavi mAlika  :    Nata Bhairavi, Ananda Bhairavi, Saalaga Bhairavi & Sindhu Bhairavi.

                3.    Maa mayoora naatha  (dwi nada)  -   both in trisra & chaturasra nadai   -   Bilahari.

                4.    Khanda Chaturasram –  Showing Taala in Khanda Nada & singing a Varnam in 2 speeds in Chaturasra Nada –

                        a feat in Laya to adjust 4 & 8 swaras per 5 Taala syllables.

                5.    Panchanada Pallavi -   in a special format in which 4, 3, 5, 7, 9 swaras are sung in that order per each beat containing 4                         Taala syllables.

                6.    Sankeerna Gati Pallavi  -   in Sankaraabharanam and Kalyani.

 

 

 

Taala Avadhaanaas

                                      Presenting two different Taalas with both hands simultaneously, she sang a Pallavi for Sangita Kala Samithi,                   Visakhapatnam in 1995.

                        Sri Tyaaga Raaja Aaraadhana Trust, Visakhapatnam.

               *     PAPER presentation on ‘Syaama Sastry’s SWARAJATIS’ in a National Conference on Music, in Andhra University in 

                      2000.

              *     Special Demonstration on Tyagaraja   -  "Bhaava Raaga Taala yuta Sad-bhakti"  (భావరాగతాళయుత సద్భక్తి) -   2013.

 

 

 

Articles

          She wrote an exhaustive treatise on ‘'Kalpita Sangeetam as the basis of Manodharma Sangeetam’'.

She submitted it to the Ministry of HRD & Dept. Of Culture, Government Of India

and was awarded a fellowship for the same.

 

 

 

ALL INDIA RADIO

             *     conducted   "Sangeetha  Sikshana"   many a time.

             *     composed and conducted  "Bhakti Ranjani"  -  "Pallaki Seva Prapandham" -  work of  Sri Sarabhoji Maharaja.

             *     invited judge for Auditions at AIR, Visakhapatnam.

 

 

 

Concert Format

            *     Her concert is a combination of popular major Raagas & rare Raagas, Raagas with lot of bhaava-oriented gamakas 

                   Raagas with flat notes with utmost sharpness. 

            *     Her Swara Kalpana in Vakra Raagas like Malavi, Kadanakutuhalam, Chenchukambhoji brought her

                   reputation and respect.

            *     Many senior vidwans acknowledged that her music inspired contemporary musicians.

            *     Her extempore rendition of Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Karaavalamba stotram gained lot of admiration from people.

 

 

 

Concerts ABROAD

Sudha was specially invited to perform at the   Cleveland Tyagaraja Aaradhana  -  conducted by Bhairavi Fine Arts  -  2006.

 

Many Senior Vidwans like  "Sangeetha Kala Nidhi"  Sri Umayalpuram Sivaraman, Sri Mooshnam Raja Rao, Sri Vellore Ramabhadran, Smt. Aruna Sairam & Sri Chitra Veena Ravikiran appreciated her music.

  Chicago :      SAPNA   "Sri Annamacharya Project of North America".
